John Daniel Williams was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on 13 January 1926. He graduated from Stanford in 1946 and received a doctorate from Harvard in 1952. J. D. Williams came to the University of Utah as an instructor that same year and became head of the Hinckley Institute of Politics in 1965. He retired from teaching in 1992. J. D. Williams ran for the United States Senate in 1968 and the Utah State House of Representatives in 1976; in each occasion he lost. He died on 3 September 2007. ...

Fawn McKay Brodie was born in Ogden, Utah, on September 15, 1915. Her family were active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with her grandfather serving as president of Brigham Young University and uncle David O. McKay as the ninth president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The son of George H. and Flora Robertson Brimhall, Dean was born on December 11, 1886, in Provo, Utah. George H. Brimhall served as president of Brigham Young University from 1903-1921.
